My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Christ is Risen!
It is with great sadness and a broken heart, but with a sure hope in the Resurrection, that I notify you that our dear Father George fell asleep in The Lord yesterday evening (Oct 19th) while he and Kh. Hend were in Georgia visiting family. This is an incredible shock to all of us and we must rely on the love we all share for Fr. George, Kh. Hend, and each other to make it through this incredible tragedy. Our sorrow is great as we have lost a loving father, pastor, brother, and friend, but we must also know that the Lord’s love and compassion for those who love Him is greater than anything we can imagine.
It is very important for us to grieve together as a community. We will celebrate the 3-day memorial prayers following Great Vespers on Wednesday evening this week (Oct 22nd). Great Vespers will begin at 7:00 pm.
Additionally, we will pray the 9th day memorial prayers together following Divine Liturgy on Oct 26th and the 40-day memorial prayers following Divine Liturgy on Dec 7th.
Please remember Fr. George, Kh. Hend, and the entire family in your prayers.
May our Lord grant our dear Fr. George rest with the saints.
